60 Second Film Challenge

Welcome to another exciting and busy time of year!  In Grade 6 much of our focus right now is on Market Day, especially since it is only a week away. Students are incredibly excited, and I am really looking forward to seeing it all come together. I think they will be very proud of what they accomplish.

Believe it or not, we actually have many other things going on as well! :) In Math, students are learning about finding perimeter and area of polygons. In Language Arts, they are reading Historical Fiction novels.

In Drama, students are in the process of a project I assigned a few weeks ago. Based roughly on the 60 Second Film Challenge that Vancouver puts on each year, I asked students to create a 60 second film that summarizes a movie or show they are familiar with. This is proving to be an excellent challenge for them, as they are learning communication skills, as well as the value of summarizing well. Take a look at one completed film below. It is a 60 second (roughly) version of a Dora the Explorer episode.
